Welcome to the Brentwood Radio Car Club
The primary objective of the BRCC shall be to foster & develop the practise & spirit of radio controlled car racing and to afford facilities to that end. The club also aims to treat all members fairly & equally, taking into account any special needs that people may have. The club will not discriminate against any potential club members on any grounds.

The club committee will hold an AGM (Annual General Meeting) in the November of each year. This will be open for all club members to attend. As a minimum the AGM shall consist of a report by the club chairman and club treasurer outlining the clubs intentions for the forthcoming year and outlining the current state of the clubs finances. There will also be opportunities for the club members to publicly raise any concerns or feedback on how the club is being managed.

General information
The club doors open at about 6.30pm. After the track has been laid out and everyone has been booked in, racing should start at approximately 7.30pm but this does depend on how many people help set the track up! We run 1/10th Touring cars, 1/12th and Mardave Mini-stocks (depending on entrants) which are GREAT for beginners. We race these on carpet using foam tyres, slick rubber tyres, with an additive, or T-27 rubber tyres that have a tread pattern. Generally we are able to perform 3 rounds of qualifying per class and 1 final per class. The Touring Car class normally has 3 or 4 different heats (based on ability and previous qualifying results) with not normally more than 6 drivers per heat. This can be the same for the other classes. The very last final should be completed by about 10.30pm and as the hall has to be cleared of people and equipment by 11pm it is vital that everybody helps to put the track away. If we fail to meet this deadline on a regular basis then we risk loosing the venue.

Racing rules
1. Races will be sorted to provide heats with drivers of similar ability, within the restrictions of numbers of racers, driver crystals and heat types.
2. The number of rounds (consisting of qualifying heats and finals) will be at the race director’s discretion.
3. Races will normally be run on automatic timer with a maximum 2 minute interval. It is the responsibility of all racers to ensure that they are ready in time and if they are late it will be at the race directors discretion if they are allowed to join the race. Some leeway will be made during the 1st qualifying round to allow for crystal and interference problems.
4. In the event of an excess number of racers wishing to compete, entries will be permitted on a first come, first served basis - regardless of membership status or ability.
5. All drivers must display their appropriate number on the front windscreen of their car.
6. Dedicated 1/12th and Mini-Stock heats will be run, provided a minimum of 4 drivers enter. In the event of less than 4 drivers then the 1/12th and Mini-stock may not be run.
7. Cars must not be driven in such a manner that they deliberately damage other cars, the track markings or your fellow racers and their pit crew.
8. Cars must not travel around the track in the reverse direction of the normal flow of racing at any time.
9. Practice maybe permitted prior to the first heat and before the start of the finals. All drivers wishing to practice must use the peg board when provided to avoid frequency clashes.
10. During qualifying drivers must give way to faster cars. Drivers should only call lapping when they are being held up for at least one lap by another racer of whom they are lapping. Slower drivers should be given one lap to find a suitable place to let the faster racer pass. The race director will award penalties if poor driving etiquette is witnessed.
11. Drivers should only call Marshall when no attempt to rescue their stranded car has been made after a minimum of 5 seconds.
12. Penalties for poor driving standards will be issued at the discretion of the race director or referee. This includes ‘tail tapping’ other cars, deliberate track jumping or driving in a dangerous manner.
13. Penalties will be issued during a race in the following order:- a) verbal waning b) 1 lap penalty c) disqualification from the race d) disqualification from the race meeting The Race Directors decision is final. Warnings and penalties may be carried over between races and finals at the Race Directors discretion.
14. Only the race director or appointed referee has the authority to award a DQ during a race. DQ changes must only be made if asked for by the race director or designated chief scrutineer. A log of all DQ’s will be kept in the box file. It is the race directors or chief scrutineer’s responsibility to keep this updated.
15. All drivers must race from and remain on the rostrum until the race has been declared over. At the end of a race, once race control has called out that the racer has finished, the racer should then drive the car around to an area of the track which is not near the racing line and stop the car. Getting off the rostrum before the race has been declared finished will result in a warning being given.
16. In the event of an accident that requires a marshal, the driver should let off the throttle until the car is placed back on the track and the marshal’s hand is clear. If the wheels are still rotating, the marshal may choose not to assist the car until they have stopped.
17. The designated scrutineer shall decide when scrutineering shall take place and to which cars. This may include all the cars at the start of the meeting and then on a random basis thereafter, or after each or selected heats/finals.
18. Drivers must place their car in the designated scrutineering area for checking and remain there until after they have finished marshalling. If a car is required to be removed before this period then it must first be verified with the scrutineer or race control that it complies with the rules. Any cars not presented for scrutineering after a final will be automatically failed. Driver results will not be retrospectively altered under any circumstances other than for penalties awarded by the race director, lap counting equipment malfunction or miscounted laps.
19. It is the racers responsibility to ensure that their car consistently complies with the rules. The clubs own, or centrally provided, measuring equipment shall be taken as the reference. The racers own equipment should be treated as a guide only.
20. Any car failing scrutineering during qualifying heats will result in that round being disqualified. Any car failing scrutineering during the finals shall result in the driver being disqualified in that final, even if no previous warning was given in the heats. In the event of two or more cars failing scrutineering in the same final then the drivers will be demoted in the order they finished the race, i.e. the lower driver shall be placed last, the next highest driver shall be placed next to last, etc.
21. Before giving a driver a warning or failing their car, the scrutineer must get another committee member to verify their decision and the reason for the failure and demonstrated to the racer.
22. Any driver not fitting their lap counting equipment or it falling out during the race, may have their lap times counted manually at the Race Director’s discretion, provided it is noticed very quickly. If laps are not counted manually, the driver shall have no cause for complaint.
23. If a driver considers that he or she have been on the receiving end of bad driving by another driver that has affected their own time and/or gone un-noticed by the race director, they can report the other driver to race control. Results will not be retrospectively changed but that driver will be watched more closely during future races at the meeting.
Marshalling rules
1. All drivers must marshal the heat or final immediately following their race, unless they have been asked to cover race control or other reasonable duty at the discretion of the race director. However, exceptional circumstances will be allowed for.
2. Marshalls must be at their designated point immediately after placing their cars on the scrutineering table prior to the race start warning otherwise you will lose your final. This will be enforced during all rounds whether or not it is a club meeting or a championship meeting.
3. Marshals should cover the track area close to the designated marshal point.
4. When placing a car back on the track, it should be positioned in a safe area where it is unlikely to be hit by the other cars racing.
5. Marshals may only be substituted for another racer or competent pit crew who are BRCA members.
6. Any racer found not to be marshalling, or being covered by another racer shall:- a) be given a warning to return to his or hers marshalling point. b) loose their final if they do not return immediately. c) be prohibited from driving in their next race if the said driver does not marshall at the designated post for the race immediately following the one in which they participated. If a driver does not marshal the next race after their final then they will be prohibited from driving their 1st race at the next meeting they attend. d) be committing an infringement of rule 16 in the general rules above.
7. Marshals must stay at their post until the race has finished.
8. Marshals must stay alert to the track area in front of them at all times. They must not sit down, or be distracted by other activities whilst marshalling.
9. Marshals must pay due care and attention to other cars circulating when crossing the track, and minimise obscuring parts of the track from the drivers.
